Liverpool Preview

Last updated : 27 August 2004 By Mark Heys
Bolton Wanderers are back on home soil this weekend as they face North West rivals Liverpool in a televised encounter at the Reebok Stadium.

The Trotters have won twice and recorded a draw in their opening three games of the Premiership season whilst the Reds have played one game less due to their European exploits drawing on the opening day with Tottenham Hotspur and winning at Anfield against Manchester City last weekend.

Last season saw Bolton play Liverpool three times in all competitions, twice in the league and once in the Carling Cup with the results sequence reading one win, one draw and one defeat, the last meeting at the Reebok ending in a thrilling 2-2 draw.

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce is expected to stick with the side that defeated Southampton in midweek and that will mean another chance for Tunisian international Radhi Jaidi who impressed on his debut at St Mary's. Fellow defender Florent Laville is still injured whilst striker El-Hadji Diouf is ineligable due to a new ruling which stops him playing against the club he is on loan from.
Rafa Benitez is expected to include new Spanish signings Xabi Alonso and Luis Garcia in his Liverpool squad for the short trip to Lancashire with another new face Josemi also looking likely to be fit despite picking up an injury in the game against City last week. Milan Baros and Djibril Cisse are expected to be the strike pairing following Michael Owen's recent move to Real Madrid.

This contest will kick off at 16.05 on Sunday afternoon and will be shown live on SKY television.
