Charlton Athletic Preview

Last updated : 29 August 2003 By Mark Heys
Bolton Wanderers welcome Charlton Athletic to the Reebok Stadium this weekend knowing that only a win will do following a poor start to the season so far which has included two 4-0 defeats and a 2-2 draw.

Games against Alan Curbishley's team are always difficult as Charlton are a well organised and well prepared team as they showed in their visit to the Reebok last season when they came away 2-1 winners and last week's win over Wolves will have given them confidence.

Bolton will have to do without defenders Bruno N'Gotty and ex-Charlton player Anthony Barness going into this match after they picked up injuries in the 4-0 defeat at Portsmouth in midweek so teenager Nicky Hunt will be recalled to the squad as will fellow youngster Danny Livesey to add defensive cover. Simon Charlton and Mario Jardel are still not fully fit but are expected to play some part against the Londoners.

Charlton include former Wanderers favourites Claus Jensen and Mark Fish in their squad for their trip to Lancashire but they will have to do without defenders Richard Rufus and Gary Rowett who are nursing injuries. Carlton Cole, a recent loan signing from Chelsea will play some part but fellow new boy Paulo Di Canio is out with a leg injury. In form South African Shaun Bartlett is again expected to lead the Addicks attack.
