Nigerian international striker John Utaka is said to be interesting Bolton Wanderers after a number of reports in this weeks press both at home and abroad claim the front man is keen to link up with compatriot Jay-Jay Okocha in Lancashire.

The 22-year old plys his trade in France with RC Lens but a disagreement with his club over international commitments during January's African Cup of Nations has re-affirmed the players desire to move to the English Premiership.

Utaka scored prolifically in Egypt and Qatar before his transfer to Western Europe two years ago and his form for the French side has certainly been noticed by a number of sides across the European continent who see the African as an ideal signing.

Whether or not the Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce holds a definate interest in the player remains to be seen as finance and wages could get in the way of the giant forward moving to the Reebok Stadium. In any case the Bolton boss would make it his first priority to secure the players he already has at the club to longer contracts before he plans for next season.
