The Return Of Ivan

After playing in many of the pre-season games Ivan Campo was left in the wilderness by Sammy Lee and after results and performances seemed to get worse many fans started to wonder what the hell was wrong with big Ivan.

Injury was never mentioned by the club, so therefore his absence from the squad was infuriating the Wanderers faithful.

A shock turnaround this week saw Sammy Lee call on Campo to control his midfield on Saturday against Tottenham, and that he did. With his vast range of passing, coolness on the ball and great defensive work, Campo managed to help Wanderers to their fourth point of the season.

He even bagged a goal - heading in a Diouf freekick which got Bolton back in the game after losing a goal only 5 minutes earlier.

His presence seemed to give the crowd, players and managment a big lift and I bet Sammy Lee is thanking his lucky stars the negotiations with the Qatar club were a slow and lengthy process.

But credit where credit is due.

I have heard many fans saying he's a joke, and swallowed his pride to restore Campo in the team due to fan pressure, as a desperate man who's lost the plot. Some believe these were the reasons which brought the Spaniard back in the frame - but I look at it in a different way.

Sammy Lee has shown great bottle and courage to swallow his pride and the fact the fans wanted him to do it made it even harder for the little man. I have a great respect for what he has done as we have seen other managers in the past play stubborn. The fact Sammy has admitted his mistake and done something about it for the good of the club - for this I can only applaude.

Although if he hadn't ousted him from the start of the season he may not have got into this situation in the first place - so lessons to be learned here Sammy!
