Khalilou Fadiga played the full game as Bolton Wanderers reserves defeated Manchester City reserves on penalties in the Manchester Senior Cup.

The Senegal midfielder played his first game since his heart scare prior to the Carling Cup game with Tottenham Hotspur, and has now taken the first steps in resuming his football career.

A last minute goal from the penalty spot by City's Bradley Wright-Phillips sent the tie to penalties after Salford-born Wanderers star Dale Whitehead had given the Trotters a first half lead.

Additional time could not seperate the two teams in the game at the Athletics Arena so the tie was to go to a penalty shoot out, something which the young Wanderers have excelled at this term.

Bolton goalkeeper Andy Oakes was a hero in the Manchester Senior Cup game with Oldham Athletic back in September and this proved to be the case again this evening as he was to save two of City's penalty kicks in the shoot out.

This victory maintains the Trotters 100% record in the competition this season.

BOLTON RESERVES: Andy Oakes, Rhys Powell, Danny Livesey, Charlie Comyn-Platt, Bradley Hill (Jaroslaw Fojut), Dale Whitehead, Ivan Campo, Khalilou Fadiga, Ricardo Vaz Te (Karl Luisi), Bedi Buval, Reda Kribib (Jamie Gibb)

SUBS NOT USED: Chris Howarth, Craig Knowles.
