Les Ferdinand began life as a Bolton Wanderers player today and admits that although he found it hard to leave Leicester City the chance to remain in the Premiership was too difficult to turn down.

Former England striker Ferdinand signed a twelve month contract with the Trotters having had a successful season at the Walkers Stadium which he scored 12 league goals during a season which lead the Foxes being relegated.

"I've spent all my career in the Premiership and to leave Leicester was a very difficult decision to make. But I think that the burning desire to finish off in the Premiership was what probably made my mind up" he told Bolton's official site

Despite the wrench of leaving the Midlands club the player was looking to the future with his new career at Bolton stating that he is raring to go in time for the new season which is just a month away.

"I'm excited to be here, It's a new challenge for me and I cannot wait for the new season to start, I'm raring to go. They've taken time to find their feet in the Premiership but are now starting to accelarate and I'm glad to be part of it"

The veteran frontman was also adamant that he would not be moving to the Reebok Stadium as a squad player outlining his determination to put pressure on the first choice striker in a bid to get into the team.

"My idea is to put pressure on whoever’s playing in front of me. If I do that and manage to get myself in the side I’ll take things from there"
