Bolton Wanderers ran out comfortable 2-0 winners against Cork City at Turners Cross in a testimonial which was held in appreciation for the former Cork and Celtic player Carl Davenport.

Trialist Ibrahim Ba, who was rumoured to have agreed to sign a contract until Christmas with Bolton earlier today scored twice in a strong Bolton side which included eight of the team which played against Charlton Athletic in the Premiership the weekend before.

The game came to life in the 22 minute when former French international Ba held off a challenge by former Tranmere Rovers reserve Billy Woods to fire the ball past home keeper Noel Mooney.

Former Port Vale midfielder George O'Callaghan could of equalised a few minutes later for the home side but his shot was well saved by the Wanderers keeper. Ba added a second shortly after half time when he took advantage of some poor home defending to settle the contest.

The home side made a number of changes after the interval and substitute Jamie Nolan had two chances to equalise, he hit the Bolton crossbar following good work from midfielder Karl Caulfied. On 70 minutes he was brought down in the area but his chance to reduce the errears wasnt taken as he saw his spot kick saved by Jeremy Bon.
