Bolton Wanderers reserve team boss Neil McDonald is pleased to see long term injury victims Florent Laville and Ricardo Gardner return to action after the pair both played 45 minutes during last night's reserve draw with Liverpool at the County Ground.

McDonald beleives the defensive duo's return to competitive action is excellent news for the club and feels Laville in particular coped well with the Reds strike pair of Neil Mellor and Florent Sinama-Pongolle.

"Florent and Ricardo both came through 45 minutes each which is excellent news for the club" McDonald told the official site

"It was a good test for Florent because he was up against Florent Sinama Pongolle and Neil Mellor both of whom are very good players. One's strong and one's quick and nippy so it has done him a world of good"

The return of Gardner was also hailed by the reserve gaffer who paid tribute to the Jamaican for his part in the equalising goal which saw Liverpool defender Djimi Traore fire past his own goalkeeper.

"Ricardo produced a superb cross which all the players really appreciated, It was nice to see them all run across to him" he added
